OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team closed out the 2017 regular season over the weekend, splitting a doubleheader with Southern Conference Champions Indian River State College 7-8, 12-1.

The Lady Patriots (48-13) finished runner-up in the Mid-Florida Conference behind Seminole State College. The Raiders (19-5) finished one game ahead of CF (18-6) and clinched the season series 3-1.

With the second place finish, CF has clinched the MFC No. 2 seed in the upcoming FCSAA State Softball Tournament this coming Friday through Sunday (April 28-30) at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fla. The tournament is a double-elimination tournament with the two finalists receiving bids to the NJCAA national tournament in St. George, Utah.

The Lady Patriots are set to face Miami Dade College in the opening round on Friday at 11 a.m. CF is 4-0 against MDC this season, run-ruling the Sharks in three of the four meetings.

If CF defeats Miami Dade, they will play the winner of Hillsborough-Chipola on Friday at 4 p.m. A loss would send the Patriots to the loser's bracket and face the loser of the same match up at 4 p.m. Click Here for complete tournament schedule and results.
