OCALA, Fla. – After a record setting season with PRs at the NJCAA National 5k and NJCAA National Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama, the Lady Patriots look to set new bests this season. Head Coach Lauren Godwin expresses great excitement about the team's preparation for the upcoming Season Opener in less than two weeks. Veteran Captains Magda Barcia and Iraly Faria aim to begin their season where they left off in Huntsville. On Friday, August 30 the Patriots will begin their 2024 campaign at UCF in Orlando at 5:30 p.m.
Incoming freshmen this season include Adrienne Bunn, Concepcion Fradera, Gabby Fugate, Felicity Inman, Kiera Kenny, Isabella Mesa, Alyssa Mowery, Allison Robb, and Rylee Zell. Myra Hill returns as a sophomore alongside Barcia and Faria.
After the Pats race in Orlando, they will travel to Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida on September 7 for an 8 a.m. Saturday race. Two weeks later, the Lady Patriots will travel to Daytona Beach to race in the Embry Riddle Invite.
The following week, CF will head to the state capital and compete in the Pre-Regional Invite in Tallahassee on Friday, September 27 at Apalachee Regional Park which is the site home to the FCSAA Region 8 Championships later in the season.
The Pats will then run again at Apalachee Regional Park on Friday, October 11 in the FSU Invitational. Two weeks later, the Patriots will race a third time at ARP in the FCSAA Region 8 Championships.
Two weeks following the FCSAA Championships, the Patriots will head to Virginia to compete in the NJCAA 5k Championships in Richmond on November 9. The 2024 NJCAA National Championship Half Marathon then takes place three days later on November 12 in Richmond, Virginia.
