
The College of Central Florida Patriot Softball team comes back in game one to beat St Pete on Tuesday. Down by one in the sixth, the Pats scored three runs to take a 7-6 lead. Sarah Stewart tied the game with a single to left and Bailey Holmes gave the Pats the leads with a single to right that scored Hayley Turner. Holmes had three hits in the game. She also scored three runs and swiped two bases. Amy Crosby, Amber Daugherty and Turner all had two hits to help lead the offense.
Morgyn Stevens earned the win for CF, her 8th of the year. She scattered eight hits and gave up six runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking five.
In game two the Patriots got off to an early lead with two runs in the first inning from an RBI single by Crosby and another on a double steal. They added two more runs in the third when Leah Clark singled in a run and Daugherty drove another in with a groundout to second. The Patriot offense had 19 hits in the game. Both Clark and Holmes had four of them while Madison VanAllen and Turner had three a peice.
Hailey Pyle got the win in game two. She went five and two-thirds innings and gave up six runs (three earned) on 12 hits.
The two wins were much needed for the Pats as they improved to 10-18 in Citrus Conference and 19-24 on the season. Their next games will be on Tuesday, April 15th when Hillsborough comes to Ocala to play a double header starting at 2 PM.
