
The College of Central Florida Softball has now won six games in a row after their doubleheader sweep on Tuesday against Hillsborough Community College in Tampa.
Game 1: CF 5 - HCC 3
The Lady Pats used a four-run third inning to secure the victory over Hillsborough in game one. Gabrielle Rascher doubled in the first two runs and Catlin Blankenship followed up with a two-run home run to center field.
Morgan Stevens was stellar in the circle. She threw a seven-inning complete game and allowed six hits, three runs (only one earned), struck out seven and walked just one.
The Pats had a strong showing at the plate with 12 hits in the game. Amber Daugherty went a perfect three for three. Leah Clark, Madison VanAllen, and Blankenship all had two hits.
Game 2: CF 19 - HCC 2
In Game two the Pats were led by Hailey Pyle's two home runs and strong pitching performance. She hit a two-run home run in the first and a three-run home run in the third. In the circle she threw a five-inning complete game with the run rule. She allowed just two runs (both unearned) on two hits and struck out nine batters.
Central Florida's offense tallied 19 runs on 17 hits. They scored 11 runs off HCC in the third inning alone. Leah Clark (2 for 3) and Madison VanAllen (1 for 2) also hit home runs. Amy Crosby (3 for 5), Abbie Roach (1 for 1), and Gabrielle Rascher (2 for 2) hit doubles.
The Patriots improved to 16-8 overall and 6-4 in Citrus Conference play. Hillsborough fell to 2-20 and 1-11 in conference. CF will next play at St. Johns River State College on Wednesday, March 12th with game one starting at 2 PM. The next conference games will be on saturday, March 15th when they host top ranked Florida Southwestern State College in a doubleheader. Game one starts at 1 PM.
