Pats Defeat Polk State 9-3 in Both Games

The Lady Pats finally returned to their home field to play vs Polk State on Tuesday afternoon.  The Pats got off to a early lead in game one's 9-3 win. They scored five runs in the first with RBIs from Madison VanAllen (1-4, R, RBI) , Zoe Riley (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI), Emma Rogel (1-3, R, RBI), Amber Daugherty, and Caitlin Blankenship (2-2, RBI, 2B). Three more runs were added in the second. Leah Clark (1-4, 2 R, RBI, 3B) tripled and Riley drove in another run. Haley Guffey earned the win. She gave up six hits and three runs, zero were earned, in seven innings. She struck our five and walked three. 

In game two the score was tied 3-3 from the third inning until the Pats got their big inning in the fifth. Hailey Scott doubled to drive in two runs and the Pats added another on a passed ball to take a 6-3 lead. CF added three more runs in the sixth. After a hit by pitch to Rogel, and walks to Raegan Geiger and Avery Lawson, the bases were loaded for Madi Wicihowski. She single to score a run and Clark drive in another on a ground ball to short to increase the pats lead 9-3. Clark hit her 10th homer run of the season. Ashley Martinec earned the win. She threww six innings and allowed only one run on two hits while stirking out four.

The Pats improve to 22-4 in Citrus Conference games and hold steady one game behind Florida Southwest and Indian River. The Pats next games will be at Eastern Florida State on Saturday.
