Softball Takes Two from Seminole State on the Road

CF Softball finished up their fifth straight road double header with a sweep of Seminole State on Tuesday. 

Game 1: CF 9 - SSC 7

Game one of the day was a back and forth affair. The Pats got off to an early lead scoring three in the top of the first inning. Madison VanAllen drove in the first run with a sac fly and Amber Daugherty hit a two-run double. The Raiders responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first off of Patriot starter Haley Guffey. The Pats then scored three more in the top of the second with an RBI by Megan Loftis and a home run by Leah Clark. They added another run in the third on a sac fly by Zoe Riley to go up 7-3. Seminole fought back and tied it up in the fifth. VanAllen came up big for the Pats hitting a single to score the go ahead run. Raegan Geiger gave the Pats an insurance run in the seventh with a RBI double to score Madi Wicihowski. Guffey picked up her 12th win of the year.

Game 2: CF 15 - SSC 0

The Lady Pats dominated game two scoring 15 runs in just five innings for the mercy-rule victory. Leah Clark and Zoe Riley both hit home runs in the first inning to get the scoring going. Zoey Mills pitched four shutout innings. She allowed only three hits, walked two and struck out one. Emma Wyman threw one inning to close it out. She allowed one hit and struck out one. Leading hitters in the game were:

The Pats improve to 29-11 on the season and 20-4 in Citrus Conference play. They will next play a home matchup on Thursday, 4/4 vs Polk State College. First pitch of game one will be at 2 PM.
