CF Shuts Out #4 Indian River in Game One 11-0 and Drops Game Two 3-2

The #6 nationally ranked Patriots traveled to play the #4 nationally ranked Indian River State Pioneers in Fort Pierce. In game one the Pats routed the Pioneers 11-0 in six innings beating one of the top pitchers in the state, J'dah Grigorie. CF was up 1-0 when they exploded for 10 runs in the sixth innings to secure the win. Amber Daugherty drove in two with a single. With the bases loaded, Avery Lawson hit a bases clearing triple to score three more. Hailey Scott, Madison VanAllen, and Caitlin Blankenship all drove in runs in the inning. Haley Guffey gave the Patriots another solid performance in the circle. She allowed only six hits and struck out two for her 16th win of the year.

In Game two the Pats kept it close and tied the score at two run a piece in the fourth. Leah Clark led off the inning with a triple and scored on an error. After a fly out and ground out Blankenship and Bailey Holmes both singled before Zoe Riley walked to load the bases. Avery Lawson then hit a two-out single up the middle to score the Pats second run. The Pioneers came back though and scored in the bottom of the fifth on a double by Gendron. Emma Wyman took the loss for the Pats. She entered the game in the first and threw a quality six innings allowing only one run on five hits while striking out one. 

The Pats are now 38-16 on the season and 29-9 in Citrus Conference play. The will play next on Saturday at home vs Miami Dade. Game one will start at 1 PM.
