Pats Win Two on Sophomore Day to Clinch Playoffs

The Pats officially clinch a playoff spot with their two wins vs Daytona State at home on Tuesday. They did this on Sophomore recognition day where these 10 sophomore players were recognized before the game:

Game 1: CF 5 - DSC 0

The Pats scored early in the first on RBIs from a Hailey Scott double, a Leah Clark Triple and a Madison VanAllen sacrifice fly. Haley Guffey earned the win with her complete game shutout. She only allowed one hit and struck out six while walking four. Both Megan Loftis (3-4, 2 R, 2 SB) and Scott (3-3, R, 2 RBI, 2 2B) had three hits in the game for the Pats. 

Game 2: CF 9 - DSC 3

Leah Clark had a solid game at the plate in game two going 3 for 5 with a home run that sparked a five run third inning. Amber Daughtery also had a pinch hit three-run home run in the inning. Ashley Martinec started and went three and one-third innings for the win. Emma Wyman entered the game with the bases loadd with one out and the score 5-3. She got a ground ball back to her and got the runner out at home and then a strikeout to get out of the jam. She threw three and two-third innings and struck out one. The Pats offense knocked out 15 hits. Loftis went 4 for 5 and Avery Lawson went 2 for 2 with two runs and two walks. 

The Pats are now 37-15 and 28-8 on the season. Next games for CF will be on Thursday, April 18th at Indian River State at 2 pm.
