Guffey Throws No Hitter as Pats Route Polk State College in Two Games

Central Florida pitcher Haley Guffey threw a complete game no-hitter in Game two's 8-0 victory. The Pats exploded for a total of 27 runs in the two games with 19 in game one. 

Patriot shortstop Leah Clark led the way in game one driving in five runs on four hits. She blasted a three-run home run in the fourth where the Pats scored 12 runs in the inning. Hailey Scott also had four hits and a home run. The Pats hit six doubles: Caitlin Blankenship and Scott each had two, Amber Daughtery and Zoe Riley each had one. 

Zoey Mills threw three inning to earn the win, striking out five and allowing only two hits. Carly Allen threw two innings in releif, striking out two and allowing only two hits. 

In Game two's 8-strike out, no-hitter performance by Guffey the Pats got off to an early lead scoring one run in bot the first and second. They later added five more in the fifth and one more in the sixth to secure the 8-run mercy rule. Clark continued her game one offensive dominance with three more hits. Riley, Scott, Megan Loftis, Emma Rogel and Hayley Turner all doubled. Loftis went three for four with three runs scored and three stolen bases. 

The Pats are next in action on Saturday for a home doubleheader vs Eastern Florida State.
