Lady Pats get Two Wins in Second Day of Kickoff Classic

The Lady Pats finished the weekend strong with two wins on Saturday, improving their record to 3-1 for the season. 

CF 10 - Lake Sumter 0

CF was dominant in their game one win over Lake Sumter. They scored 9 runs in the bottom of the first to take a commanding lead early. The Patriots got six hits in the inning, including two by Gianna Guerriero who bunted to lead off the inning and then later hit a 3-run homer to right scoring Katie Hogue and Megan Loftis. Kaite Sexton had two hits and 2 RBI in the game and Katie Hogue hit a home run to left field in the 3rd inning. Haley Guffey earned the win throwing 3 innings and only giving up two hits while striking out five batters. Emma Wyman threw 2 inning in relief and struck out three batters. 

CF 10 - Indian River 9 (9 inn)

The Patriots had their second extra inning game in two days in game two with Indian River. CF had a 6-3 lead in the 6th inning when Indian River scored three to tie it up. After not being able to push any runs across in the 6th, 7th, or 8th, the Patriot's bats came alive in the 9th. Guerriero lead off with a single and scored on an Emily Konz triple. Brooke Roberts hit a sac fly to left to score Konz and later Katie Sexton hit a 2-run home run to give the Pats a 4 run lead at 10-6. Indian River fought back in the bottom of the ninth and managed to score three runs to make things interesting, however Ashley Martinec was able to get the final batter out with a fly ball to Konz in left and secure the win for the Pats.

The Patriots next game will be on the road in Melbourne, FL when they take on Eastern Florida State in a double header starting at 3 PM.
