OCALA-- College of Central Florida softball players Tiffany Steczo and Maggie Trgo were named to second team all-american list by NJCAA Softball on Tuesday afternoon. The duo brings head coach Kevin Fagan's all-american total to 10 since his inaugural season six years ago.
Steczo had a break out year, batting .418 and crushing 28 homers, breaking Amy Szymanowski's single-season home run record. She finished the year No. 1 in the FCSAA, No. 2 in NJCAA, in total home runs, while finishing Top 3 in FCSAA in RBI (72) and slugging percentage (.945).
Fellow sophomore Trgo also had a dominant offensive performance this year, finishing Top 10 in the FCSAA in batting average (.438) and on-base percentage (.524).
In addition to all-american honors, the sophomore duo has racked up several other awards, including: NFCA NJCAA Div. I Second Team All-American, NFCA First Team All-Region, FCSAA All-State, and Mid-Florida Conference First Team.
Steczo will be taking her talents to McNeese State University in the fall, while Trgo is still entertaining several offers.
