COOK NAMED FCSAA SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball pitcher Barbara Cook was named the FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 8-14.

Cook, a freshman from Tequesta, Fla., went 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average during the week, allowing just two hits and striking out 12, including a no-hitter against Florida State College at Jacksonville. She is the second CF pitcher to receive FCSAA Pitcher of the Week honors as Kelsie Rivers received the accolade a week ago.

Cook led off the week with a complete-game no-hitter against FSCJ, striking out seven in the win. On Saturday, she threw a two-hitter against conference rival Lake-Sumter State College, walking just one batter and recording five strike outs in the six-inning 8-0 run rule.

Cook was instrumental in help leading the Mid-Florida Conference champions to a season-best NJCAA No. 4 ranking in this week's NJCAA Softball Div. I poll.

On the year, Cook holds a 18-3 record with a 1.95 ERA and 67 strike outs in 122.1 innings of work.

The Lady Patriots will close out the 2019 season with two non-conference home doubleheaders next week. The ladies will host State College of Florida on Thursday, April 25 for a doubleheader at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. before closing out the season on Saturday versus Indian River State College at 1 and 3 p.m. Prior to the start of Saturday's doubleheader, we will honor our sophomores in a short ceremony.
