#CFSOFTBALL SWEEPS SANTA FE, IMPROVES TO 4-0 IN MFC

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team remained perfect in conference play after sweeping Santa Fe College on Tuesday afternoon at the CF Softball Complex.

CF (27-7) improved to 4-0 in the Mid-Florida Conference after defeating the Saints 3-2, 8-3 to stay atop the conference standings.

In game one, CF carried a 2-1 lead into the top of the sixth inning until Santa Fe's Cameron Trehy sent a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall to tie it up 2-2.

A half-inning later, the Patriots loaded the bases with one out on consecutive walks. Sophomore outfielder Maggie Trgo remained patient at the plate, forcing a passed ball that brought home first baseman Tiffany Steczo for the winning run.

Steczo finished game one 2-for-2 at the plate with a RBI and run scored, while sophomore catcher Anina Fernandez went 1-for-2 with a RBI.

The Patriots took game two with a little more ease, thanks in part to Fernandez.

Fernandez went yard on two occasions, a three-run homer in the third followed by a two-run home run in the sixth inning, to help lead CF to the sweep. She finished 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore short stop Gretchen Ebert backed Fernandez at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a RBI.

CF will head on the road for back-to-back conference doubleheaders.

The Patriots will travel to Seminole State College on Thursday for a doubleheader at 2:#0 and 4:30. On Saturday, CF will travel to Daytona State College for a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m.
