#CFSOFTBALL SWEEPS HCC IN RUN-RULE FASHION

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team swept Hillsborough Community College 10-1 (5IN), 8-0 (6-0) on Thursday afternoon at the CF Softball Complex to improve to 18-6 on the year. 

CF, ranked No. 3 in the latest FCSAA polls, got on the board with a five-run second inning in game one of the doubleheader. Sophomore infielder Gretchen Ebert jump-started the scoring with a RBI single and Devyn Howard followed it up with a bases-clearing double down the first base line several batters later.

The Patriots would complete the five-inning sweep after plating four runs in the fourth inning, including a two-out bases-clearing double by Ebert.

Ebert finished game one 2-for-3 at the plate with five RBI. Howard (1-for-3, 3 RBI) and Joanna Muldoon (2-for-3, RBI) also provided strong plate appearances in the win.

Freshman pitcher Barbara Cook recorded her fourth win of the season in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits.

The Lady Patriots kept the bats hot in game two, scattering 11 hits over six innings, including a four-run sixth inning. to enforce the run-rule. Six Patriot players drove in a run in the high-scoring affair, including: Howard, Muldoon, Maggie Trgo, Bailey Wilson, Olivia Simon, and a solo homer from Tiffany Steczo, her seventh of the season.

Freshman pitcher Kelsie Rivers kept the HCC offense at bay, throwing a three-hit shutout to record her sixth win of the season.

CF will travel to State College of Florida on Saturday for an afternoon doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., before returning home to host the Czech National Team on Monday at 2 and 4 p.m.
