#CFSOFTBALL SWEEPS ST. PETERSBURG

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team swept St. Petersburg College 10-0 (5IN), 13-5 (6IN) on Tuesday evening in Clearwater to improve to 15-3 on the season.

FCSAA No. 3 CF jumped out to a 6-0 after the first inning of game one and plated four additional runs in the third inning to enforce the run-rule after five inning. Sophomore outfielders Joanna Muldoon and Maggie Trgo led the way at the plate, each finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Freshman pitcher Caroline Hoppe went the distance, throwing a one-hit shutout in five innings to improve to 5-1 in the circle.

The Patriots kept the scoring going in game two.

After falling behind 3-1 after one complete inning, CF went on to plate four runs in the second, five in the third and three more in the sixth inning to complete the run rule.

Sophomore outfielder Olivia Pope finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored from the lead off position, while freshman Devyn Howard went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including her third homer of the season.

Freshman pitcher Barbara Cook came in relief of Kelsie Rivers, allowing just two runs on three hits in five innings to secure the win.

The Lady Patriots will return to the field on Friday when it hosts FCSAA No. 1 Florida SouthWestern State College for a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m. On Saturday, CF will host Eastern Florida State College for a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m. at the CF Softball Complex.
