#CFSOFTBALL SWEEPS SANTA FE, FINISHES NO. 1 IN CONFERENCE

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team closed out conference play with a 9-0 (5 innings), 9-1 sweep of Santa Fe College on Saturday in Gainesville. CF finished first in the conference with a 22-2 record. 

The Patriots scored at least one run in all five innings, including a two-run homer from Olivia Pope in the fourth inning. An inning later, Gretchen Ebert (RBI single) and Maggie Trgo (RBI ground out) delivering the insurance runs to enforce the run-rule.

Ebert finished game one 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Pope (1-for-4) drove in two runs.

In the circle, Lindsay Markham-Rosario secured her state and national record 26th win of the season with just two hits and six strikeouts in five innings. Markham-Rosario also ranks No. 2 in the state in total strike outs (188) and No. 4 in lowest ERA (1.01).

Game two did not prove any different as the Patriot bats continued to roll, blasting two more homers to bring its home run total to three on the day and a state best 62 total homers on the year.

Ebert went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in game two. On the day, she went 3-for-5 with seven RBI. 

London hit her team-leading 18th homer of the year. She ranks secondn in the state in total home runs and No. 1 in RBI (65).

The Patriots have two non-conference doubleheaders remaining, with its final home game on Saturday, April 28 versus Indian River State College at 1 and 3 p.m. CF will then turn its attention to the state tournament where they will face off against Suncoast No. 2 on Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood, Fla. Click here for tournament details.
