#CFSOFTBALL SWEEPS SEMINOLE, SITS ATOP MFC AT 16-2

OCALA—The College of Central Florida softball team swept Seminole State College 8-0 (5 innings), 5-1 on Thursday afternoon at the CF Softball Complex.

CF (43-9) entered the doubleheader one game ahead of Seminole in the conference standings, with the head-to-head tied at 1-1. Now the Patriots sit atop the standings at 16-2 with a three game lead over Seminole with six conference games to go.

In game one, Takiya London led off the bottom of the first inning with her 15th homer of the year to put the Patriots ahead 1-0. An inning later, Karli Woolington delivered a two-out, RBI single to center to increase the lead to 2-0 before Gretchen Ebert blasted a two-run homer to put CF in the driver's seat at 4-0 after four innings.

Pinch hitter Jenna Rodelo completed the run-rule in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, bases-clearing double to finish off the Raiders.

Ebert finished game one 1-for-2 with two RBI, while Anina Fernandez (2-for-3), Woolington (2-for-3), and London (1-for-3) each drove in one run each. 

In the circle, Lindsay Markham-Rosario notched her state and national record 23rd win throwing a two-hitter and striking out four.

CF's home run attack continued in game two with Fernandez and Woolington each driving one out of the complex. Fernandez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Woolington finished 2-for-4 with a RBI.

The Patriots' four homers on the day increased their home run total to 55 on the year, leading the state by more than 10. London ranks No. 2 in the state in total home runs.

Morgan Cushman collected her 14th win of the season allowing just one run on three hits and striking out six.

CF will return to action on Saturday when it welcomes Daytona State College for a conference doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m.
