OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team swept Santa Fe College 7-3, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon at CF Softball Complex. With the win, the Patriots are now 11-1 in the Mid-Florida Conference, sitting in first place one game ahead of Seminole State College.

Santa Fe opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the second. An inning later, Takiya London countered with her 13th homer of the year, ranking second in the state, to tie things up 1-1.

CF went ahead for good when it busted things open with a four-run fourth inning and added an additional insurance run in the fifth in sixth innings.

Gretchen Ebert (1-for-3) drove in two runs for CF, while Elaina Lukas (2-for-3), Anina Fernandez (3-for-4), and London (2-for-3) each drove in a run.

In the circle, Lindsay Markham secured her state-leading 20th win of the season, allowing just two earned runs (two home runs) on three hits in 4.1 innings of work. Morgan Cushman came in and shut the door on the Saints, allowing just one run in 2.2 innings of relief.

In game two, the Patriots and Saints marched into the bottom of the seventh scoreless until freshman Olivia Pope delivered a walk-off single to complete the sweep.

As a team, the Patriots collected seven hits in game two with Karli Woolington and Pope finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.

Cushman got the job done in the circle, not allowing an earned run on seven hits in seven innings of work for the win.

CF will travel to St. John's River State College on Thursday for a doubleheader under the lights.
