OCALA--FCSAA No. 2 College of Central Florida softball team swept St. Petersburg College 9-1 (6 innings), 12-3 (5 innings) on Thursday afternoon at the CF Softball Complex. The Lady Patriots are now 16-2 on the season.

Freshman outfielder Kayla Jensen got things going with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first. A few batters later, Bailey Wilson grounded into a fielder's choice to score Tiffany Steczo to put the Lady Patriots up 2-0 after the first inning.

CF plated two more runs in the third inning and SPC countered with their solo run of the game in the fourth before Takiya London (2-run) and Steczo (solo) delivered back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning to put the Lady Patriots ahead 7-1.

CF went on to score two more insurance runs in the sixth to run-rule the Titans in game one.

Jensen finished the day 4-for-4 with two RBI, a home run and three runs scored, while London crushed her first home run as a Patriot and finished 3-for-4, three RBI and two runs scored.

In the circle, Morgan Cushman held the Titans at bay allowing just one run on five hits and struck out six to get the win in game one.

In game two, the Lady Patriot offense combined for 16 hits in the five-inning run rule.

CF got out to an early 2-0 lead before SPC countered with three runs of their own in the top of the third to give them their only lead of the double header. In the bottom half of the inning, Gretchen Ebert answered the call with a three-run homer to put the Patriots ahead for good.

CF exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal the deal.

Ebert finished the day going 2-for-2 with a season-high five RBI.

Lindsay Markham-Rosario picked up her seventh win of the season, tied for second in the state for most wins, allowing just two earned runs on two hits and struck out nine. Markham-Rosario now has 63 strike outs on the season, good for second in the state.
