#CFSOFTBALL GOES 5-1 AT VISIT DOTHAN INVITATIONAL

OCALA—The College of Central Florida softball team went 5-1 on the weekend at the Visit Dothan Invitational in Dothan, Ala.

CF dropped the first game 9-8 to NJCAA No. 2 Salt Lake City Community College before picking up big wins against Coastal Alabama-East (22-0, 5 innings), Snead State Community College (7-1), Central Alabama Community College (16-6, 5 innings), Coastal Alabama-South (11-1, 5 innings), and Pensacola State College (10-4). In total, the Lady Patriots plated 74 runs on the weekend.

Takiya London led the way at the plate with eight runs batted in, while Karli Woolington and Julia Ramos each had seven RBI, Anina Fernandez drove in six against Pensacola, and Olivia Pope and Tiffany Steczo each recorded five RBI in six games.

In the circle, Morgan Cushman made her return going 2-0, picking up wins against Snead State and Pensacola. Cushman allowed just one earned run on six hits and struck out 10.

Samantha Urbina picked up two wins of her own against Coast Alabama-East and Coast Alabama-West, while Lindsay Markham went 1-1 on the weekend, dropping her first game of the season to Salt Lake City.

CF will be back in action on Tuesday when they host State College of Florida for a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m.
