#CFSOFTBALL SPLITS WITH ST. PETERSBURG

OCALA--The College of Central Florida softball team split with St. Petersburg College on Tuesday evening in Clearwater.

CF (9-1) blanked SPC 8-0 behind the power arm of Lindsay Markham-Rosario before falling short in game two, 4-2.

Hannah Kelly put the Patriots on the board in game one with a solo homer in the top of the second inning before CF broke things open with a four-run fourth inning.

Katie Peters got the scoring going in the fourth with a solo homer, followed by a triple by third baseman Julia Ramos to drive in Mariah Wick and Bailey Wilson. Ramos later scored on an error by the Titan's second baseman and three batters later, Karli Woolington singled in Olivia Pope to cap off the scoring.

Pope drove in two additional insurance runs in the fifth with a line drive to center, singling in Kelly and Wilson to complete the run-rule.

Markham-Rosario blanked the Titans in the circle, not allowing a run on three hits and struck out eight. Markham-Rosario is one of only three pitchers in the state to not allow an earned run to date.

At the plate, Pope (1-for-3) led the offensive attack with three RBI. Kelly (2-for-2, HR, 2 runs scored), Wilson (2-for-2. 2 runs scored), Ramos (1-for-3, 2 RBI), and Peters (HR) backed Pope at the plate.

The Titans thwarted a Patriot rally in game two to split with the FCSAA No. 2 team.

CF found themselves down 4-1 heading into the seventh inning. A walk and a dropped third strike put two on with no out for the Patriots. Takiya London scored on a passed ball with Peters at the plate, but SPC sat the next three batters down in order to secure the win.

Anina Fernandez (1-for-2, RBI) drove in the lone earned run of the game.

In the circle, Kayla Jensen didn't allow an earned run on two hits with three walks and a strike out in the loss.

CF will head to Dothan, Ala. this weekend for the Visit Dothan Invitational where it will face off against some of the nation's top programs, including: Chipola College, Salt Lake City, and Lake Land College.
