MARKHAM-ROSARIO NAMED NJCAA & FCSAA PITCHER OF THE WEEK

OCALA-- CF softball pitcher Lindsay Markham-Rosario was named the FCSAA Region VIII and NJCAA national Pitcher of the Week for the first voting period of the season.

Markham-Rosario powered past her opponents in her opening weekend debut, going 2-0 with one save. She gave up just five hits and did not allow an earned run while striking out 24 in 16 innings pitched during the voting period. 

Markham-Rosario threw an eight-inning complete game with 13 strike outs to defeat Northwest Florida State College in the season opener on Jan. 26. On Saturday, she threw a five-inning no-hitter against Tallahassee Community College and struck out seven in the win. 

To date, Markham-Rosario currently leads the state in strike outs with 32 (second in the nation) and total wins with four (second in the nation).

The Lady Patriot softball team will return to action on Feb. 6 when they travel to Clearwater to take on St. Petersburg College. CF's next home doubleheader will be Tuesday, Feb. 13 against State College of Florida-Manatee at 2 and 4 p.m.
