Lizzmore, Rule sign with NCAA schools

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team had two more sophomores sign with NCAA institutions to continue their college softball careers, bringing the total to six in the 2017 class moving on to four-year institutions.

Infielder Destinee Lizzmore has signed with Eastern Kentucky University and third baseman Melinda Rule will go on to play at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla.

Lizzmore, a Mid-Florida Conference First Team All-Conference selection, led the state in home runs (17) and runs batted in (74). The Jacksonville native appeared in 118 games for the Patriots, batting a career .363 with 111 RBIs, 88 runs scored, 32 stolen bases and 25 home runs. She recorded 25 multi-hit games over the course of her two years, driving in a career-best six runs on two occasions including a 2-for-3, two home run effort against Daytona State on March 21, 2017. 

Lizzmore also received National Fastpitch Coaches Association NJCAA Division I All-Region and All-American honors as a sophomore, as well as being named to MFC and FCSAA All-Academic teams for her work in the classroom.

Rule, a Jacksonville native who came to CF by way of Bartram Trail High School, appeared in 70 games for the Patriots in her two-year career. She batted a career .286 with 40 runs scored, 19 RBIs and three home runs.

As a sophomore, Rule batted .319 and had a career-high 4-RBI effort against conference rival St. Johns River State College, going 2-for-2 at the plate and scoring two runs. In addition to her on-the-field success, Rule also garnered MFC and FCSAA All-Academic honors for her work in the classroom.
