Lady Patriots sweep TCC

OCALA--CF Softball swept Tallahassee Community College on Sunday afternoon at CF Softball Complex.

The Lady Patriots got a four RBI effort from Brooke Barlow, who was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, in game one to lead lead CF past TCC 10-1.

CF struck first in the bottom of the first with four runs. An error and a trio of singles from Caeley Nix, Barlow and Tiffani Railey put the Lady Patriots up 2-0. Destinee Lizzmore grounded into a fielder's choice to drive home Barlow and Railey stole home to tack on another pair of runs before the Eagles were able to get out of the inning.

CF would go on to drive in another six runs in the second and third innings in the five-inning rout. As a team, they combined for 12 total hits and held the Eagles to just two hits.

Nix (2-for-3, 2 runs scored), Railey (2-for-3, 2 RBI, run scored), and Lizzmore (1-for-3, 2 RBI) backed Barlow at the plate in game one.

In the circle, Morgan Cushman kept the Eagles' offense at bay not allowing an earned run and just one hit.

Game two ended in similar fashion.

TCC struck first, plating the lead-off walk in the top of the first. That is all the Eagles' offense would manage as the Patriots answered back with nine unanswered runs to defeat TCC 9-1 in five innings.

Claudia Jones led the CF offense, going 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Railey (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Lizzmore (2-for-3, 3 runs scored, RBI) also backed Jones.

Lindsey Markham went five complete, allowing just one run on one hit and struck out four.

The Lady Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday when they open up conference play against Florida State College at Jacksonville at 2 and 4 p.m.
