Softball sweeps season series from FSC-Jacksonville

OCALA--The College of Central Florida softball team rolled past Florida State College at Jacksonville by scores of 12-0 and 12-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

CF, the nation's No. 1 ranked team and fresh off clinching its second consecutive Mid-Florida Conference championship, improved to 54-2 overall and 21-1 in the MFC.

It marked the 28th time this season that CF had won via the mercy rule and the 14th time it has accomplished this in conference play.

The Patriots have allowed one run or less in 30 games.

CF is 18-0 at home this season.

Kalen McGill (29-1) went five innings and allowed three hits in the opener.

CF scored in three of its four at-bats, including a seven-run effort in the fourth inning of the opener.

From there, the Patriots scored at least three runs in all four of their at-bats in their second mercy rule victory.

Lindsey White went four innings and picked up the win in the second game.

Mariah Wise (1-for-6, two runs scored), Caeley Nix (7-for-8, five runs scored, four RBI, two triples), Kelsee Cullop (4-for-8, three runs scored, five RBI, two doubles), Brooke Barlow (5-for-7, four runs scored, four RBI, home run), Edrienne Williams (2-for-5, two runs scored, two RBI, double), Destinee Lizzmore (3-for-5, three runs scored, three RBI, home run) and Deeandreaya Davis (1-for-3, two runs scored, RBI) led the way for CF at the plate.

The Patriots visit Lake-Sumter State College on Thursday afternoon at 2:30.
