DAYTONA BEACH- The College of Central Florida softball team saw its 30-game winning streak come to an end, as it lost 7-5 in the second game of a doubleheader to Daytona State College.

CF (50-2, 17-1), the nation's No. 1 ranked team, rolled to a 10-0 win in the opener, as Kalen McGill (27-1), the nation's leader in wins and lowest ERA, shut down the Falcons.

The Patriots opened up the scoring in the top of the fourth with a single up the middle by Deeandreaya Davis to score Claudia Jones.

From there, CF would score three more runs in the fifth, including Brooke Barlow's 16th home run of the season, and tacked on six more runs in the sixth to seal the deal. Destinee Lizzmore jump started the six spot with a gram slam over the left field fence.

In the second game, the Patriots found themselves in an unfamiliar situation, trailing 7-2 heading into the final inning. Tiona Hill hit a two-run homer with one out to bring CF to within two. DSC, however, ended CF's 17-game conference winning streak, getting two Patriot batters to fly out to end the game.

Kylie Holton (2-for-6, run scored, RBI), Mariah Wise (3-for-7, two runs scored), Barlow (3-for-5, three runs scored, home run, three RBI), Hill (4-for-8, three runs scored, three RBI, home run, double), Lizzmore (2-for-6, run scored, four RBI, grand slam), Davis (1-for-3, run scored, RBI), Claudia Jones (2-for-3, run scored, RBI), Edrienne Williams (double) and Taylor Cruce (1-for-1, RBI, double) led CF at the plate over the course of the doubleheader.

In the circle, McGill went six innings and scattered three hits. She walked one and struck out seven.
