Softball completes season-series sweep of Santa Fe

GAINESVILLE- For the second consecutive season, the College of Central Florida softball team has swept the season series with rival Santa Fe.

The Patriots (47-1, 14-0), the nation's No. 1 ranked team, extended their winning streak to 27 consecutive games with wins of 10-0 and 7-3 over the Saints.

CF has won nine straight over the Saints dating back to the state tournament in 2014.

On Tuesday, Kalen McGill twirled a shutout in the opener, as she scattered five hits and struck out four.

McGill finished up the final 2/3 innings of the second game for a save in relief of Lindsey White, who allowed three runs on eight hits in the win.

At the plate, Mariah Wise (2-for-4, three runs scored, double), Alexis Goyette (1-for-2, two RBI), Caeley Nix (2-for-4, two runs scored, RBI), Kelsee Culop (4-for-8, six RBI, two runs scored, two RBI), Brooke Barlow (1-for-4, two RBI), Tiona Hill (3-for-7 two RBI, two doubles), Destinee Lizzmore (2-for-6, run scored), Deeandreaya Davis (1-for-3, three runs scored) and Edrienne Wiliams (1-for-2, two runs scored, three RBI, home run) led the way for CF over the course of the doubleheader.

Williams has now homered in five of her team's last six games, while Cullop finished with two hits in each win.

Barlow now has 12 hits in her last six games.

The Patriots will host St. Johns River State on Saturday afternoon at 1.
