No. 1 Softball sweeps FSC-Jacksonville

OCALA--The College of Central Florida softball boosted its record to 41-1 overall and 10-0 in the Mid-Florida Conference with a sweep of Florida State College at Jacksonville by scores of 15-1 and 8-7 on Tuesday afternoon.

The nation's top-ranked team has won 21 straight games since its lone loss of the year, a one-run defeat in the second game of the doubleheader against St. Petersburg College. 

In the opener, CF had two innings of at least five runs and rolled.

From there, the Patriots took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the third and held off the Blue Wave late.

Kalen McGill and Lindsey White earned the wins for CF in the circle.

At the plate, Mariah Wise (5-for-8, three runs scored, triple, RBI), Caeley Nix (3-for-7, three runs scored, RBI), Kelsee Cullop (6-for-8, five runs scored, three RBI), Brooke Barlow (3-for-7, five runs scored, four RBI, home run), Tiona Hill (3-for-7, run scored, four RBI, home run, double) and Edrienne Williams (5-for-6, two home runs, three runs scored, four RBI) led the way for the Patriots over the course of the doubleheader.

Williams homered in both ends of the doubleheader for CF.

The Patriots host Crowder College on Wednesday for a doubleheader at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
