McKinnon, Wise named NJCAA All-Americans

OCALA-- A pair of softball players at the College of Central Florida have been earned All-American honors from the NJCAA.

Holly McKinnon (first team) and Mariah Wise (second team) were honored on Thursday by the NJCAA.

McKinnon, a local product out of Sparr North Marion High School, was a three-time FCSAA Pitcher of the Week and one-time NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week this past season for the Patriots.

She finished 28-3 overall with a 1.08 ERA.

McKinnon also threw multiple no-hitters and was part of a pitching staff that was ranked among the top 10 nationally in several categories.

In 200 1/3 innings, she struck out 190 hitters and was a key part of CF setting a school record for wins in a season (53) and winning its first-ever Mid-Florida Conference championship.

Wise, a standout outfielder out of Bradenton Manatee High School, earned her national recognition after hitting .395 with 16 RBI.

She also added 28 stolen bases and three doubles. The 28 stolen bases are thought to be a school record for CF.

Wise also was named FCSAA Player of the Week during a late surge by the Patriots, who spent six weeks as the nation's No. 1 ranked team.

The duo follows Amy Szymanowski's recognition on the first team in 2014.
