Softball sweeps Indian River to close out regular season

FORT PIERCE- It was the Taylor Morrow show for the College of Central Florida softball team in its sweep of Indian River State.

Morrow went 7-for-8 with five RBI, two runs scored and a home run that powered the Patriots to wins of 4-2 and 9-4 over the Pioneers.

In the opener, Morrow's two-run homer in the eighth inning snapped a 2-all tie and gave CF the win.

Morrow was 3-for-4 and knocked in all four CF runs in the opener.

Holly McKinnon went all eight innings and earned the win for the Patriots, who swept the season series, 4-0, from the Pioneers.

From there, Morrow went 4-for-4 and the Patriots pounded out five doubles as a team and took the second game.

Autumn Hanners homered for CF in the win, while Cheyenne Blaha and Nicole White finished with two RBI each.

Blaha went 2-for-4 at the plate and backed Morrow in the win.

CF closes the regular season with a 51-7 record. The Patriots will face Tallahassee Community College in the opening round of the state tournament on May 1 at noon. CF swept TCC in Ocala earlier this season by scores of 3-2 and 3-0, but the Eagles did knock off the Patriots in last year's state championship game.
