Wise, McKinnon named FCSAA Player & Pitcher of the Week

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida softball team swept the weekly honors for the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Mariah Wise, a freshman outfielder from Bradenton, earned player of the week, while Holly McKinnon wrapped up her third pitcher of the week honor of the season.

Wise hit .600 (9-for-15), scored six runs, stole five bases, tripled and knocked in two runs for the nation's top-ranked team, which swept rival Santa Fe for the first time in school history.

Along the way, Wise had four multi-hit games.

McKinnon, meanwhile, was dominant as usual.

She finished off Santa Fe with a perfect inning of a suspended game for the save and then shut out the Saints in the opener of the regularly scheduled doubleheader.

McKinnon ended the week at 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA. Overall, she went 15 innings and allowed just seven hits, to go along with two walks and 15 strikeouts.

Already this season, McKinnon has also earned the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week and is the first CF pitcher in school history to earn FCSAA Pitcher of the Week at the state level on three occasions in one season.
