McKinnon named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week

OCALA- The College of Central Florida softball team is ranked second in the state for many reasons. One of the main ones is sophomore pitcher Holly McKinnon.

McKinnon has sparked one of the nation's best pitching staffs and was rewarded for her efforts as she was named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

In a pair of complete game wins this past week, McKinnon allowed just three hits and compiled a 0.58 ERA in 12 innings of work.

The North Marion High product defeated No. 5 Indian River in a battle of nationally-ranked teams, before she tossed a no-hitter on the road against Hillsborough Community College.

Overall, McKinnon has helped CF to seven shutouts wins, good for third in the nation. She also has helped the Patriots rank 10th in the nation in batting average against at .229.

McKinnon and the CF staff have a 1.54 ERA.

The Patriots are in action today against Tallahassee Community College at home beginning at 2 p.m.

CF lost to the Eagles in last year's state championship, but the Patriots rallied to go to the national championship game, while TCC went 0-2 at nationals.
