CF Softball goes 1-1 on Sunday, finishes 4-1 at Dodgertown Classic

VERO BEACH- After suffering a 2-0 shutout loss to Polk State to start the day in the Dodgertown Classic, the College of Central Florida softball team got back on track with a 13-2 rout of St. Petersburg College.

With the win, CF (20-2) finished the two-day event at 4-1.

Against SPC, Cheyenne Blaha (4-for-4, two runs scored, three RBI, double), Taylor Morrow (3-for-4, two doubles, two runs scored, four RBI), Kylie Holton (2-for-3, run scored, RBI), Edrienne Williams (1-for-1, home run, three RBI), Jessica Smith (1-for-2, run scored, double) and Autumn Hanners (1-for-3, run scored, double, RBI) paced CF.

Holly McKinnon went 3 1/3 innings and earned the win in the circle over SPC.

In the loss to Polk State, Hanners pitched well and didn't allow an earned run in six innings of three-hit ball.

CF, though, managed only five hits in the loss.

Hanners had a double and triple against Polk.

Eryn Chester, Nicole White and Jordan Lane added hits for the Patriots in the loss.

CF fell to 2-1 against Polk on the year with the loss.

The Patriots will host Indian River State on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a matchup of the top two teams in the FCSAA Coaches Poll.

CF knocked off IRSC last season to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in school history. At the time, Indian River was ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA and was one of two teams that fell to Patriots when they were the top team in the nation.
