Six HRs propels CF Softball past Miami Dade

OCALA- The College of Central Florida softball team pushed its record to 11-0 in dramatic fashion to close out its doubleheader against Miami Dade College at CF Softball Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

After smashing five homers in an 8-0 five-inning rout over the Sharks to open the day, the Patriots rallied from a four-run deficit with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and earned a 9-5 win.

Rebecca Enter's grand slam with two outs in the fifth put the Patriots ahead for good. Enter smashed a 2-2 pitch for the go-ahead homer for CF, after it saw the Sharks score twice in both the fourth and fifth innings.

From there, the Patriots scored three times in the sixth to get the breathing room they needed.

In the opener, CF got a pair of homers from Lindsay O'Steen and one each from Edrienne Williams, Kylie Holton and Taylor Morrow.

Morrow went 5-for-5 with three runs scored, one double and one RBI in addition to her home run to start the day.

Mariah Wise (3-for-5, three runs scored, triple), O'Steen (3-for-6, three runs scored, four RBI, two homers), Jordan Lane (two runs scored, RBI), Autumn Hanners (2-for-5, two runs scored, RBI, double), Cheyenne Blaha (2-for-5, double, RBI), Deeandreays Davis (2-for-2, RBI), Kaylee Smith (run scored) had standout days for CF, but it was Enter's blast in the nightcap that was the big hit of the day.

In the circle, Holly McKinnon allowed one hit in CF's five-inning win to start the day. She walked and struck out five to outduel MDC's ace Milena Calixto.

The second game saw Hanners also improve to 5-0 with 3 1/3 innings of relief. She struck out four.
