OCALA-- It appears College of Central Florida softball standout Amy Szymanowski has a chance to end her career as the state's all-time home run leader. 

Szymanowski will enter this weekend's doubleheader with St. Petersburg College with 34 career home runs, which is three away from what is believed to be the career state record held by former Lake City Community College star Monique Marier (37 HRs from 1999-2000).

With two games left in the regular season, and at least two games in the FCSAA Atlantic District Tournament, Szymanowski has the record in striking distance.

Marier, like Szymanowski, was an FSU signee. She hit 27 home runs her freshman season and had 10 entering the state tournament her sophomore year. Her 27 home runs are also believed to be the single-season state record.

Marier's mark surpassed the excellence of Olympic Gold Medalist Crystal Bustos, who hit 23 in her one season at Palm Beach Community College in the late 90s. Busto knocked in 102 runs and hit .614 for the Panthers.

Szymanowski already holds the single-season and school record for CF (18 for the season and 34 for her career) and is tied for second all-time in Mid-Florida Conference history with Seminole's Kalee Tabor, who smacked 34 from 2011-2012. 

With her two-run shot against FSC-Jacksonville in the final regular season conference doubleheader, Szymanowski moved past former Santa Fe star Karla Claudio in the MFC's single-season race. Claudio is SFC's all-time career leader for home runs with 28 from 2012-2013.
