CF Softball opens up season 3-0

Ocala, FL-- The College of Central Florida softball team kicked off the season with three wins in its season opening tournament in Clearwater.

The Patriots (3-0) started the day off with a 11-3 win over Georgia Highlands, keyed by a home run from Florida State commit Amy Szymanowski.

Jordan Lane went 2-for-5 with three RBI, while Autumn Hanners tossed three scoreless innings, before Jamie Nelson finished up.

From there, CF downed Gordon (Ga.) State 3-1, as Taylor Bowen allowed just one earned runs and struck out eight.

Szymanowski went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the victory.

To cap things off, CF downed Broward 9-0 behind a 2-for-3, effort by Szymanowski, which also included a homer and two RBI.

Cheyanne Blaha went 2-for-3 with RBI for CF, while Lizzy Burchfield also went 2-for-3, homered and drove in two runs.

Lindsay O'Steen went three scoreless innings, before Hanners closed off the final two frames and fanned three.

CF returns to action in the tournament on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
