Ocala, FL-- The College of Central Florida softball team split a pair of games on Sunday in the Clearwater Kickoff Classic.
The Patriots (4-1) opened the day with a 4-3 win over Polk State in a matchup of teams that finished as runner-ups in their district at the state tournament a year ago.
Taylor Morrow (1-for-3, double, RBI), Lizzy Burchfield (1-for-2, RBI) and Taylor Bowen (four scoreless innings, four hits allowed) led the way for CF in the win.
In their second game, CF fell 6-3 to Miami Dade in a matchup of teams that played for a spot in the Atlantic District finals last season.
Amy Szymanowski doubled in two runs, while Autumn Hanners struck out three in a complete game on the mound.
CF, which was hurt by four errors in the loss, opens its home schedule on Tuesday afternoon at 2 against State College of Florida-Manatee.
