Dunbar signs with Auburn University

OCALA--College of Central Florida men's basketball player Malik Dunbar has signed a scholarship to continue his basketball career at Auburn University this fall.

Dunbar, a two-year starter from North Augusta, S.C., entertained numerous scholarship offers throughout the year, including fellow SEC school University of Mississippi, but ultimately settled on the Auburn Tigers and head coach Bruce Pearl.

Dunbar appeared in 59 games for the Patriots, starting 57, and averaged 13 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game in his two-year career. As a sophomore, he averaged 15.6 points per game and 6.4 rebounds.

The South Carolina native scored in double-figures 41 times in his career, with a career-high 32 points coming against Broward College on December 10, 2016. The Mid-Florida First Team All-Conference selection recorded five career double-doubles and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against Florida Southwestern and Pensacola as a sophomore.

Dunbar earned FCSAA Player of the Week one time in his career for his monstrous outing at the JUCO Showcase this past December. Dunbar averaged 29.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and shot 55.9% from the field en rout to recording two double-doubles during the voting period.
