Men's Basketball routs Santa Fe at home

OCALA--The College of Central Florida men's basketball team took sole possession of second place in the Mid-Florida Conference after defeating conference rival Santa Fe College on Saturday night at Patriot gym.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the early going, but CF regained control in the final minutes of the first half to go into the locker room up 36-29 at halftime. The Patriots would lead by as many as 23 points in the second half en rout to a 82-75 win over the Saints.

As a team, CF shot 50 percent from the field and out-rebounded Santa Fe 46-36 as they rolled to their fourth consecutive conference win.

Paul Turner led all scorers with 24 points, while Anthony Johnson (14 points, 11 rebounds) and JB Kus (10 points, 11 rebounds) each finished with a double-double on the night. Ivan Gania-Rosa dished out 11 assists.

CF will head on the road February 11 for a crucial conference game against Florida State College at Jacksonville. Currently, the two teams tied 1-1 in their season series. The winner of this game could hold the upper hand in securing the second state tournament spot for the Mid-Florida Conference.
