Patriots shut out FSCJ in crucial conference doubleheader

OCALA--The College of Central Florida men's and women's basketball teams hosted a crucial conference doubleheader with Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday night at Patriot Gym. 

Both teams were looking to bounce back from early losses to FSCJ on January 7 in Jacksonville, and that they did.

The Lady Patriots opened up the doubleheader with a 72-67 win over the Blue Wave, winning their second consecutive conference game. CF led by as many as 17 points, but FSCJ powered back to make it a three point game in the closing seconds.

Kiarah Mallory led all scorers with 13 points. Shakarri Mack recorded her first double-double as a Patriot putting up 12 points and grabbing 11 assists, while Nicola Mathews dished out 8 assists.

In the night cap, the men followed with their second consecutive conference win, downing FSCJ 80-66.  CF went into the half up 36-27 and led by as many as 18 points. They held the Blue Wave to just 28 percent shooting from the field.

Anthony Johnson led the Patriot offense with 21 points and nine rebounds. Other key contributors include Paul Turner (15 points), Malik Dunbar (12 points), Canberk Kus (11 points), and Francois Lewis who finished the night with his second double-double of the season (10 points, 10 rebounds).
