OCALA--The College of Central Florida men's basketball team went 2-1 on the weekend at the Miami Dade Invitational with Paul Turner three points shy of breaking the single-game scoring record on the final day of play.

CF kicked off the weekend against Pensacola State College on Friday, defeating the Pirates 74-63. Ivan Gandia led all scorers with 18 points and dished out seven assists. Malik Dunbar recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Patriots finished the game in double figures, including Francois Lewis (16 pts), Anthony Johnson (12 pts), and Paul Turner (11 pts).

On Saturday, the Patriots took the court against first-year program Florida Southwestern State College. CF went into the half down by three, but couldn't overcome a 50-point effort by the Bucs in the second half, falling 96-86.

Dunbar recorded his second double-double of the weekend, scoring a career-high 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. He was two-for-four from behind the arc and nine-of-thirteen from the field. Gandia (22 pts, 9 assists), Lewis (13 pts, 7 rebounds), and Johnson (10 pts, 9 rebounds) backed Dunbar in the win. 

Turner put on a show on Sunday in the Patriots 107-92 victory over the home team Miami Dade College. He scored a career-high 45 points on the day, three points shy of breaking CF's all-time, single-game scoring record. The current single-game scoring record holds at 49 points, set by Kregg Overton in 1984.
