CF downs Daytona State behind Wigginton's 34

Ocala, Fla.-- Rodell Wigginton tied his career-high with 34 points and the College of Central Florida extended its Mid-Florida Conference homecourt winning streak to 21 games with an 84-75 win over Daytona State.

Wigginton made 15-of-23 shots and matched his 34-point outburst a year against FSC-Jacksonville.

CF (18-4, 1-0) also got a monster all-around game from Javonte Douglas, who finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Douglas scored all 16 of his points in the second half after a 0-of-8 shooting effort in the first half. The sophomore also added three assists and three steals.

Rasham Suarez (17 points, eight assists) and Chris Bryant (15 points) also contributed for the Patriots, who led by as many as 11 in the first half, before the Falcons closed to within four at halftime.

CF, though, got 18 points after halftime from Wigginton, who just missed tying his career high for most field goals by one. Last season, the Ohio University signee made 16-of-24 shots against FSC-J.

The Patriots pushed their lead to 12 with 9:31 left and didn't let Daytona State (17-4, 0-1) get closer than six points the rest of the way.

For the game, CF held a 46-38 rebounding edge and limited the Falcons to 26-of-66 shooting.
Wigginton added eight rebounds to go along with his scoring outburst.

CF made 30-of-68 shots and 7-of-17 from beyond the arc.

The Patriots have now won eight straight games over Daytona State.

The Falcons haven't defeated CF in Ocala since January 2010. Ayinde Sprewell led the Flacons with 24 points, while Tanksley Efianayi and Rashuan Stimage scored 17 and 14 points respectively.
