Both teams were strong on the mound on Thursday, but the Eastern Florida State College Titans were the team to get the clutch hit in their 2-0 win over the College of Central Florida Patriots.
The Titans, Bryce Pax drove home the only two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when he a tripled to deep right center field. That would be the only runs Titans pitcher, Owen Simmons (4-0) would need as he surrendered only four hits and zero runs over nine innings while striking out eleven and walking none.
Central Florida's pitcher, Brayden Toro (0-2) was almost as good with eight strong innings allowing only four hits, two runs, one walk, and striking out seven batters.
The win improves EFSC to 12-5, 3-1 and drops the Patriots to 12-4, 1-3. The same two teams will continue this Citrus Conference series in Ocala on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 11 AM.
