Pats Sweep Season Series Over Tallahassee with 8-4 Win

Three College of Central Florida Patriot (12-3, 1-2) pitchers made their season debuts in the Pats 8-4 win over the Tallahassee State College Eagles (5-9, 0-0) in Ocala on Tuesday afternoon. The win gave Central Florida the sweep of the home & away series.

Kohl Kilcrease started for CF in his season debut. Kilcrease was on a strict pitch count and tossed only 1.2 innings. He allowed 2 hits, one run and had one strikeout. Kilcrease, an Ocala native, graduated from Forest High School in 2024. Another local high school baseball star, Hunter Jones (North Marion/2023) made his debut throwing 1.2 innings allowing two hits, one run, with three strikeouts. Cooper Ryan was the third pitcher to make their season debut, tossing 1.1 innings and earning the win. Cory Geinzer had his best outing of the season throwing 2.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts. Arturo Ormaza earned his second save of the season with two no hit, no run innings.

The Patriots took the lead for good in the fourth inning on a Jacob McKenzie sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Victor Martinez. CF would tack on some late runs when Logan Chapman doubled off the left field wall to score two and make it an 8-4 game. Chapman finished the game with two hits, three RBI, and a stolen base. Armando Guirola connected on his first HR of the season in the first inning to give CF an early 2-0 lead.

The Patriots start their next Citrus Conference series in Melbourne on Thursday 4:00 PM when they take on the Eastern Florida State College Titans.

The same two teams will square off in Ocala on Saturday with a doubleheader 11:00 AM / 2:00 PM.
