The College of Central Florida Patriots found a way to win a back and forth affair Wednesday afternoon in Tampa when they defeated the Hillsborough Community College Hawks 11-10. The win improves the #1 ranked Patriots record to 4-0 on the season while the Hawks fell to 2-4.
The Patriots lost the lead on three separate occasions as sloppy play and some clutch hitting by the Hawks staked HCC to a 10-7 lead heading into the eighth inning. Cole Bullen drew a two out walk in the eighth followed by a Bradke Lohry triple and a Hawk error to get the Pats within one.
Carson Bayne led off the top of the ninth with his second home run of the season to tie the score at 10-10. One out later Kainen Jorge unloaded on his second home run of the game and fourth on the season to give the Pats an 11-10 lead. No lead was safe in this game, but Cam Schuelke made sure the Hawks didn't have another comeback in them as he threw a perfect ninth inning to earn the win. Schuelke finished the game with 2.2 IP, 0R, 0H, 5K.
Leading the offense was: Bradke Lohry 2-4, RBI, Triple / Carson Bayne HR, 3 RBI / Kainen Jorge 2-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI / Kareh Valentin 2-3, 2 R, SB.
