CF Sweeps National Player Week Honors

Carson Bayne was named National Player of the Week and Brian Holiday was named National Pitcher of the week.

Bayne, a sophomore outfielder from Jacksonville, Fla., was named Most Outstanding Player at last weekend's FCSAA Division I/NJCAA South Atlantic District Baseball Championships as the Patriots won their second consecutive championship. He batted .455 (5-for-11) with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and four RBI in the Patriots' three games. Bayne was particularly impactful in the championship game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a key two-run homer that propelled Central Florida to a 7-2 win.

Holiday, a sophomore right-hander from Tampa, Fla., was named Most Outstanding Pitcher of the tournament. In his only appearance, he started and pitched seven shutout innings of three-hit ball in Central Florida's 6-0 win over Miami Dade College. He walked only two and struck out 12.

The Patriots have now won each award twice this season with Cam Schuelke earning National Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season and Juan Correa earning National Player of the Week.
