Pats Take Down Eagles in Game 1 of Ocala Regional

The Patriots defeated the Tallahassee Community College Eagles 11-3 in 7 innings in game 1 of the Ocala Regional at Goodlett Field on Friday afternoon. CF was led offensively by all-conference second baseman Edrick Felix who had five RBI on the day including a first inning three-run home run.


The Pats were up 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning when the Eagles' Andrew Fernandez connected in his 8th HR of the season to tie the game at 3-3. That's all TCC would get off of CF starter and Mid-Florida Conference pitcher of the year Ben Chestnutt (11-0). Chestnutt tossed a complete game 7 IP, allowing 3 runs, 6 hits and striking out 6.


The Patriots broke open the game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Victor Castillo had an RBI single, Felix doubled down the left field line that scored two, Jackson Taylor singled home two more and Kevin Kilpatrick drove home another to make it 9-3. Nicholas Calero added a two-rbi single in the sixth to give the Pats an 8 run advantage and a run-rule 7 inning win.


The Patriots (42-14) and Eagles (33-17) will meet again Saturday morning 11:00 AM for game 2. Game 3, if necessary will take place 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 2.
