Kilpatrick’s 8th HR Powers Pats over Falcons 6-3

This season's Patriots baseball team has gotten used to scoring runs in bunches, but in Saturday's 6-3 win over Daytona State College it only took one inning worth of runs to get the Pats into the win column. The win was the tenth straight and 19th out of the last 20 games for the Pats and improved their record to 32-13 and 18-2 in conference. The Falcons fall to 16-16, 4-14.

CF broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth when Caleb Cali, Victor Castillo and Edrick Felix hit consecutive singles to score the first run. A walk to Jackson Taylor and a bases loaded hit by pitch for David Pereira made it a 2-0 game. After a Carson Bayne fielders choice scored another run, Kevin Kilpatrick launched his eighth home run of the season to push the lead to 6-0. The Falcons would answer the very next inning when Jace Wilson connected for a two-run home run off Pats starter Ben Chestnutt. That would be the only runs that Chestnutt gave up for the game as he went seven strong innings, allowing four hits, two runs and striking out a season high fourteen batters. The Wilson home run broke a streak of 25 consecutive scoreless innings for Chestnutt. Connor Godwin pitched the final 1.2 innings to earn his third save on the season.

The Patriots will head to Daytona on Monday looking for a series and season sweep of the Falcons. First pitch is at 3:00 PM.
