Patriots Defeat Saints 16-8 to Complete the Sweep

The College of Central Florida Patriots battled from behind over the first six innings but scored five runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to defeat the Santa Fe College Saints 16-8. The win completed the series sweep and gave the Pats a 5-1 season record over the Saints. The win also extended the Patriots' winning streak to 8 games. CF is 30-13 over-all and 16-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

The Pats' offense was shut down over the first two innings by Saints starting pitcher Lance Bolton but scored in every inning after that including ten runs over the final two innings. The offense was led by Caleb Cali (3-4, 3R, 3RBI, 2B, HR), Victor Castillo (3-4, 4R, 3RBI, 2B, HR), Nicholas Calero (2-5, R, RBI, 2B), Carson Bayne (2-5, 2RBI), David Pereira (1-3, 2R, 2RBI), and Jackson Taylor (1-1, 2R, 2RBI, 5 BB). Parker Seay picked up the win in relief to improve to 2-3 on the season. Connor Godwin faced three batters and struck out two to earn his second save of the season.

The Patriots who currently sit in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference travel to Daytona State College on Friday to take on the Falcons in the first game of the three-game series. Game time is 1:00 PM.
