Ginn & Godwin Combine to Two-Hit Lake Sumter 4-1

The College of Central Florida Patriots have used the combination of power pitching and an even more powerful offense to string together twelve straight wins after their 4-1 win over the Lake Sumter State College Lake Hawks. The win is also the 21st out of the last 22 games for the Pats. CF improves to 34-13 over-all and 20-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference standings. The Pats are sitting in first place 6 ½ games ahead of second place Seminole State College.

Landon Ginn and Connor Godwin combined to two hit the Lake Hawks. Ginn tossed seven innings allowing only one hit, one unearned run, and striking out five batters. Ginn improves to 5-1 on the season. Connor Godwin picked up his fourth save pitching shutout baseball over the last two innings allowing only one hit and striking out one.

The Pats offense has been used to scoring in double digits but was held mostly in-check by Lake Hawks' pitching. A two run double by Edrick Felix in the first inning and a two-run single by Nicholas Calero in the fifth inning was all the offense the Pats could muster but was enough to beat Lake Sumter.

The Patriots will travel to Leesburg on Friday for a 1:00 PM game against Lake Sumter in game two of the three game series.
